Steady progress for Scott Taylor in Queensland

It was a steady and clean weekend for Scott Taylor for Round 3 of the Equity One Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship at Queensland Raceway.

Driving the Ashley Seward Motorsport-assisted entry, Taylor was eager to continue improving his form after committing to a full assault on the Pro-Am Class in 2026.

At Queensland Raceway, Taylor made steady progress and scored a great haul of points to further enhance his chance of a strong result in the Pro-Am standings.

Taylor qualified ninth in the opening race and maintained this position throughout the 45-minute encounter after a tight battle at the start with rival Stephen Grove.

Avoiding the chaos on the opening lap of Race 2 provided dividends for Taylor as he finished ninth again and improved his race pace to drop into the 1m 11s bracket by the close of the weekend.

The second race marked Taylor’s 100th in the category, which was celebrated by Porsche Motorsport Australia supplying special cupcakes for the occasion

It wasn’t the only milestone of the round as Porsche launched its new model 911 GT3 Cup Car, which is set to debut next year.

Next up for the Equity One Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship is The Bend on September 11-13.

“I had a great weekend featuring plenty of support from Ash and the boys; I just can’t thank them enough,” said Taylor.

“The car is mint. I walk up and down pit lane listening to other drivers wanting this or that from the car, but I’m not searching for anything. Ash is telling me how he’s tuning into it to make me a better driver and make me understand it a bit better.

“We’ll pack up the truck and I get to drive Ash’s big rig home, which is pretty special. It’ll be stored at my place as Ash is back here to do some more racing.

“Thanks for another fantastic weekend and we’ll see you at The Bend.”
