Scott Taylor ready to attack fresh configuration at The Bend

The Equity One Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship is preparing for a frantic run of rounds, beginning at The Bend on September 11-13.

This round will feel different from previous events at The Bend because the layout changes from the regular International Circuit to the shorter West Circuit.

Backed by the expertise of Ashley Seward Motorsport, Taylor highlighted that the West Circuit will be hard on brakes and believes the layout provides a worthy challenge compared to the previously used configuration.

Taylor is well prepared for the category’s debut using this configuration after testing recently and is confident of a solid result after celebrating his 100th Equity One Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship race last time out at Queensland Raceway.

Not only did Taylor celebrate a milestone, but Porsche Motorsport Australia also revealed the next-generation 992.2 Cup Car in front of a crowded VIP crowd ahead of its 2027 debut. Taylor has teased the possibility of acquiring one for next season.

“We’re on the shorter West layout this round at The Bend,” said Taylor.

“I tested there last week and it’s a different sort of track. It’s very interesting, but I managed to get my head around it by the end of the day as I achieved some respectable lap times. I’m excited to be heading to The Bend to clock up some more laps.

“There are elements of the configuration that are high speed, then there are some heavy braking areas where the ABS of these Porsches works really well, but the drivers are asking quite a bit of the brakes. The brake wear is higher now than prior to the use of ABS and the lap times are better because we’ve taken advantage of this system.

“You’re right on the threshold of everything all the time, which is the difference of a few tenths of seconds these days.

“There’s a full complement of entries at The Bend and on a short track it will be a very busy time due to the inability of the field to spread out sufficiently.

“I still enjoy my racing and that’s why I still continue to do it, but also it’s trying to get the best value out of myself, the car and my team. I’ve had a good weekend if I’ve improved.

“It’s certainly a good-looking car the new Porsche and if I didn’t buy a new one, I’d regret it! Watch this space.”
