Taylor Returns to Aussie Racing Cars

29th July, 2022
By Ryan Jones

Scott Taylor will return to the Aussie Racing Cars field this weekend, alongside his campaign in the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship, at The Bend Motorsport Park.

Taylor will make his first start in Aussie Racing Cars since 2019 in Newcastle. The return means Taylor will once again be on double duty which he most recently completed at the Bathurst 1000 with a weekend in Carrera Cup and GT World Challenge.

“I’m very excited to get back in the Aussie Racing Car, it’s a great category and a lot of fun,” said Taylor.

“I’ve done a few races in the series over the years and always had a really good time. The extra seat time across the weekend might help me in the Porsche as well.”

As for Taylor’s other duties, he heads to The Bend full of confidence following his best result of 2022 so far at the previous round in Townsville. Much of this season has been spent completely reinventing Taylor’s driving style, with the coaching and guidance of Alex Davison both at the track and between events, as well as the presence of Ashley Seward and his experienced Pro-Am leading team.

In Townsville Taylor finished sixth, eighth and seventh respectively across the three races, claiming his best race result and overall round result of the year so far.

“The big change to right foot braking has been stabilised now and I feel comfortable with it so now the focus changes a bit to learning how to extract the extra lap speed.”

“We just need to find some small gains and we will be able to fight regularly for some good results in the Pro-Am field. If I’m fighting the other guys and having fun that’s all that really matters, we’ve made a big step across the year in terms of getting closer to them and I’m certainly finding a lot more enjoyment now that I understand the car better.”

“The Bend is a place I really love, it’s a fantastic race track and a pleasure to drive so I cant wait to tackle it in the Aussie Racing Car and the Porsche this weekend,” concluded Taylor.

Round five of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship and round six of the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars take place from July 29-31 as part of the OTR SuperSprint.
