Double Porsche Duty in Queensland for Taylor

2nd August, 2022
By Ryan Jones

Scott Taylor will contest two categories aboard two different specification Porsche’s this weekend at Queensland Raceway.

The double duty will come aboard a 991 GT3 Gen 2 in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge and in a 997 GT3-R in Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS.

Taylor’s last race in Sprint Challenge came in 2019, also at Queensland Raceway, on a weekend where Taylor achieved three top 10 finishes. There’s also a deep history of GT racing for Taylor in the 997, most recently at Mount Panorama in 2021 with a pair of fourth place finishes.

Earlier this year Taylor was part of the Class C winning Bathurst 12 Hour team aboard the very same car that he will drive in Sprint Challenge.

“I’m looking forward to racing a good bunch of guys in Sprint Challenge,” said Taylor.

“I started out in that category before I moved to Carrera Cup so I have lots of mates who still race there. It’s a bit more laid back as well, which aids the enjoyment factor that I strive for.”

“I love driving the 997, so it was a logical decision to have a drive while the GT World Challenge is pretty much in our backyard.”

“TQ has revitalised the venue so I am excited to see it with a big crowd this weekend.”

A hallmark of 2022 for Taylor has been the wholesale change to his driving style as he adapts to right foot braking.

“We’ve stabilised the change now and found the big chunks of time from the initial changeover. The target now is small improvements as I continue to fine-tune with the help of Alex Davison and Ash Seward.”

“The extra seat time by racing this weekend will definitely help fast track those gains,” concluded Taylor.”

Scott Taylor will be on track across August 5-7 at Queensland Raceway.
