Taylor Looks to Build on Endurance Cup Performances
6th July, 2022Driver of the number 222 in Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup, Scott Taylor will travel to Townsville for round four of the Championship in a positive mindset as he looks to build on a breakthrough in performance last time out in Darwin.
Round three of the 2022 season in Darwin didn’t feature an endurance race however the long race format will return in the second of this weekend’s races after featuring at the opening two rounds. Taylor finished the Australian Grand Prix Endurance race in eighth and the Winton hit-out in ninth.
Traditionally Taylor has performed best in the longer races, with his ability to stay out of trouble paying bigger dividends across a larger race distance. After finishing the 2021 Pro-Am Endurance Cup in fourth, Taylor sits eighth after two races in this year’s Endurance Championship while he is ninth in overall season points.
Last round in Darwin was notable for the change-up in driving style that Taylor implemented and unlocked new speed with. His best result of the weekend was a seventh place in Pro-Am in race two, while races one and three saw Taylor dicing for positions right until the chequered flag.
An added incentive for Taylor, the news that he will be carrying one of the onboard cameras as part of the TV coverage.
“I’m looking to put on a show this weekend, I’m carrying a camera for the TV,” said Taylor.
“I love the Townsville track and I love the town as well, it’s a really greet weekend. The track has a bit of everything, it’s on the longer side and its got some sweeping corners mixed in with the typical tight street circuit corners and concrete walls all around.”
“The main thing for me is I need to be hitting my goals earlier in the weekend. For example, on a one to 10 scale I keep starting at a five every weekend and in Darwin I’d say I finished with a 10. I need to start a lot closer to a 10 this weekend,” concluded Taylor.
Round four of the 2022 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship will see the series tackle its second street circuit of the year from July 8-10.
