Taylor Excited for Darwin Return
15th June, 2022Scott Taylor has expressed his excitement at returning to the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown event and Hidden Valley Raceway, venue for his best result so far in Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup.
Taylor achieved 14th outright for the round and 11th outright in race three – both a personal best. The event is also a favourite for Taylor with the Australian Superbike Championship and the Australian Top Fuel Championship in attendance.
So far in 2022 Taylor has struggled to come to terms with the new Type 992 and its faster lap times.
At the Australian Grand Prix Taylor achieved an outright top 20 with 19th in race four, his best outright result of the season so far. A ninth in Pro-Am at Winton in the second race is his best class result this season.
“The 992 has been a challenge for me so far this year and I need to step up to it,” said Taylor.
“Fortunately we’re going to Darwin which is an event I really enjoy and have performed well at in the past. My favourite bikes and drag cars will be there so I’m looking forward to checking them out.”
“In terms of the Hidden Valley track itself, it’s relatively short and has that big main straight which offers an inverse king opportunity at the end of it so the racing is usually pretty close.”
“I’ve been doing some work with Alex Davison, doing some track time at Norwell and really honing in on the details of understanding the racecraft aspect of it all.”
“There’s been some simulator time as well, we’ve certainly been working very hard to make some gains.”
“I like the track, I like the event, we’ll look to come out with a clean weekend and hopefully make those gains we’ve been working towards.”
