Taylor Primed for ‘Mind-Blowing’ Gold Coast

Scott Taylor is primed for a battle around the ‘mind-blowing’ Gold Coast street circuit as part of the final round of the 2022 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship.

2022 has been a challenging year at times for Taylor who initially struggled with the driving style required for the 992 generation Carrera Cup car. Since the opening two rounds however Taylor has adapted well thanks to coaching from Alex Davison and achieved consistent top 10 results in Pro-Am, with a best finish of sixth coming in Townsville.

Taylor’s consistency has also been a point of pride, with just two DNF’s for the entire year. Both non-finishes have come in the last two races with the first a result of being hit before turn one in Sandown and the most recent being a safety focused decision with torrential rain lashing the circuit in the only race of the Bathurst weekend.

In 2019, Carrera Cup’s last visit to the Gold Coast, Taylor achieved a best finish of sixth in the opening race of the weekend.

“Being a home race brings another level of energy to the weekend with all the friends and family at the event cheering you on and having a good time,” said Taylor.

“The Gold Coast event itself is a great spectacle and it’s a mind-blowing track that demands a different sort of skill set to navigate successfully. It’s a very tight circuit and the kerbs are the biggest we see on the calendar, you really need to have your wits about you to get through cleanly.”

“I want to maintain a good driving standard and avoid being involved in incidents, if I can continue improving with each session then I am having a successful weekend. It’s unfortunate how Bathurst played out, but safety is my number one priority so I’m thankful we all got through that weekend unscathed.”

“A bit like Adelaide, this weekend really puts on a show for everyone so I can’t wait to get on track and be part of the spectacle.”

The final round of the 2022 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship will take place at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 from October 28-30.
