Taylor Aims to Maintain Upward Trajectory in Sandown
17th August, 2022Scott Taylor will hit the track at Sandown Raceway looking to keep his upward swing moving, following a series of confidence boosting results.
Entering round six of the 2022 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship Taylor sits 11th in the Pro-Am standings, despite missing a round. The best round result of the year so far came in Townsville, with finishes of sixth, eighth and seventh (in that order) across the three races. Outside of Carrera Cup, Taylor raced recently at Queensland Raceway where he notched up a class win in GT World Challenge Australia and an overall Pro-Am podium in Sprint Challenge.
The uptick in results in recent rounds is largely accredited to Taylor’s new style of driving, switching to right foot braking, which has unlocked the potential for more speed from his racing.
“Sandown is going to be an interesting test, it will be a very close field and the weather is looking pretty typical for Melbourne with some rain on the forecast,” said Taylor.
“We might get a good mix of conditions across the weekend which will test our ability to adapt with this car. There hasn’t been any proper wet running for us this year, so I’m excited to see how this car handles in those conditions.”
“I’ve gotten to enjoy Sandown a bit more over the years, I didn’t have too much fun in my first couple of visits but I’m excited to get there now.”
“With the growth in my driving thanks to the coaching from Alex, I’m always looking forward to getting behind the wheel now.”
Round six of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship takes places from August 19-21 at Sandown Raceway.
