STM Racing in Support of Charity at 12 Hour

12th May, 2022
By Ryan Jones

This year’s Bathurst 12 Hour entry for Scott Taylor Motorsport is being run in support of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

The PCFA is in place to help increase the awareness around Prostate Cancer and in turn raise funds to help the prevention and treatment of the disease which sees around 18,000 Australian men diagnosed each year. Donations to the foundation can be made at the following link, www.pcfau.org/car222

Donations points at the event will be in place plus fans will also be able to donate on Thursday at the town-to-track fan activation in Bathurst and from links on the Bathurst 12 Hour and Supercars websites.

So far $2,600 has been raised through the car222 fundraising initiative.

The event will be contested aboard the STM owned Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Gen 2, which was last raced in the 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup Championship. The livery has been tweaked to boast the PCFA blue colours, with the foundation’s logos also adorning the special scheme.

Ashley Seward Motorsport will prepare and run the car, as they did in last year’s championship and again for Scott’s 2022 Carrera Cup campaign.

Joining Scott in his first 12 Hour as a driver is Craig Lowndes who has a long history supporting the foundation. Alex Davison is another high-profile name to join the entry, plus Geoff Emery who is a three time Australian GT Champion and a teammate to Scott in the Carrera Cup Championship. For Lowndes and Davison, the entry is close to heart with a history of Prostate Cancer running in both families.

A jam-packed schedule from May 13-15 sees six practice sessions, a two-part qualifying, a top 10 shootout all preceding the 12 Hour event which starts at 5:15am local time on Sunday the 15th.

All action on Saturday, two practice sessions and qualifying, will be broadcast live on Fox Sports and Kayo. The 12 Hour race will be broadcast live by both Fox Sports and Kayo with Channel Seven joining them and providing free to air coverage.
