Class Victory at Bathurst 12 Hour
17th May, 2022The #222 Scott Taylor Motorsport Team has taken victory in Class C at the Bathurst 12 Hour as well as finishing 10th on the outright classification.
Across six practice sessions, qualifying and the race, the #222 topped the timing sheets for Class C, reserved for entries competing in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.
The four drivers who made up the entry included two-time Bathurst 12 Hour winner Craig Lowndes, Carrera Cup champion Alex Davison, and 2022 Carrera Cup teammates Scott Taylor and Geoff Emery. All four joined the team to help raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, in total $60,000 was raised for the cause.
Qualifying required a lap time from a bronze driver in addition to a pro driver, with their combined time setting the team’s grid spot. Emery and Davison combined to earn pole position and 14th on the overall grid.
The race ran trouble free for the team, with all the drivers keeping it on the road and the crew executing every pit stop flawlessly.
Each driver enjoyed multiple stints at the wheel, Davison tasked with starting in extremely challenging conditions before handing over to Lowndes for a stint in the wet. Emery and Taylor pulled the hard yards through the middle of the race, jumping out just in time for Lowndes to endure another wet stint before Davison and Lowndes brought the car home.
The low pressure race and solid result perfectly reflected the attitude of the team who approached the weekend just looking to enjoy themselves while raising awareness for PCFA.
“We’ve only put this together in the last couple of weeks and we came here with just four mates who wanted to have a drive but that was secondary to the cause of the whole thing which was to raise money and awareness for PCFA,” said Taylor.
“The names on the car, it was a sensational thing to be a part of. Big thank you to the team, Lara Lowndes, everyone, I had some mates come out, it was just a really good experience. Plus, Ash Seward, this simply wouldn’t have happened without Ash and his team.”
