STM secures more silverware in Fanatec GT at Phillip Island
25th August, 2024Scott Taylor Motorsport has once again enjoyed a successful weekend behind the wheel of their Porsche 911 GT3-R after securing a clean sweep of wins in the Fanatec GT3 World Challenge Australia powered by AWS’ round at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
With the series racing as the headline act for the SRO GT Festival, Scott Taylor and Paul Morris managed to guide the #222 Porsche to two victories throughout the round after two measured performances.
Showing plenty of pace in Friday’s three practice sessions, Taylor and Morris picked up where they left off on Saturday morning where they finished second in class in both Qualifying sessions.
Although they weren’t able to make a pass during the first stint of Saturday’s race, the duo’s consistency was rewarded in the latter half of the outing after their rivals were forced to pits midway throughout – ultimately handing them the victory.
On Sunday, Taylor and Morris’ solid driving was once again rewarded with the victory – only this time, they managed to hold off the #38 Aston Martin Vantage of Valentino Astuti and Darren Currie to the chequered flag.
The two victories added to an impressive season record for the team, who has now picked up three Trophy Class victories in four races.
Scott Taylor Motorsport will now enjoy an extended break, with their next appearance to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

“We are just staying out of trouble and respecting those guys who are quicker than us in the late model cars,” said Taylor.
“Paul and I are just really enjoying it though and bouncing off each well. He is going quicker and I am just about chasing him down
“It’s a matter of managing the margin and seeing how quickly I can get to Paul. It’s an old car but we are having a ball.”
Paul Morris

“The car has plenty of straight line speed and solid handling – it’s good for old blokes like us,” said Morris.
“It’s good fun and cool to drive that car. It should be in the museum, so the fact that Scotty comes out and races it and lets me drive it with him is something very special.”
