Scott Taylor recovering from brutal Utes crash at Bathurst
12th October, 2025Scott Taylor has spent Saturday evening in Bathurst Hospital after an incident during the V8 Superutes racing at Mount Panorama.
In what seemed a minor incident, the cabin force of the crash saw Taylor suffer two broken ribs, a collapsed lung and some internal bleeding following a side impact during Saturday’s Race 2 of the SuperUtes.
Team owner Taylor was completing double duties in both the SuperUtes and the Paynter Dixon Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship. The incident saw him miss both the final two Carrera Cup races.
Taylor is recovering well in Bathurst Hospital and is thankful to the staff there for the support they have given him.
On a positive note, STM’s Super2 star Nash Morris continued to elevate himself as a title contender in the series. The Gold Coast racer rose from seventh to fifth in the first race and took the lead from third in the finale after a flying start. A mistake at The Chase on lap 1 dropped Morris to second, but he was able to maintain this until the chequered flag to further bolster his title challenge, which is set to conclude at the bp Adelaide Grand Prix in November.
Morris’ duties at Bathurst don’t stop, the second-generation racer debuts in the Great Race alongside previous winner Richie Stanaway in the PremiAir Racing Chevrolet Camaro.
Scott Taylor Motorsport’s racing campaign will conclude at the bp Adelaide Grand Prix on November 27-30.

“I just want to thank the staff at both the track and Bathurst Hospital, who have been amazing and world class,” said Taylor.
“I have broken ribs, a collapsed lung and some internal bleeding, but nothing too severe. I hope to be released today (Sunday, October 12) after further testing.
“It was a funny incident as we are still not sure what occurred. The impact was that hard the engine mounts broke and everything internally moved including the battery, with the ECU wiping the camera such was the hit.
“The Ranger didn’t appear too damaged from the outside, but as it hit side on there was no crumple absorption, which inflicted the damage. You can’t hit a wall at about 140km/h square on the right-hand side and not suffer injury.
“I am thankful to have the best support from everyone and I am now focused on checking out of Bathurst Hospital to catch some of the race if the tests come through clear.
“I can’t wait to get home to Rebecca Maddox and Indigo!”

“I had a good start and I was comfortable up until The Chase where I made a mistake, which was unfortunate,” said Morris.
“I’ve had a drama with locking left-front tyres all weekend, but to be honest I think I went through like the session before in the Supercar and braked like I was on the Super Soft tyre, so it was just a mistake. I’m not going to blame it on anything, it’s just something I need to learn from.
“It’s definitely pretty challenging to swap between the two. It’s not so much the driving, but rather everything in the car like the knobs and buttons are in different places. The width of the car is also different, so you have to play it pretty smart the first few laps.”
