Scott Taylor Motorsport has enjoyed a busy weekend at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 as Nash Morris and Scott Taylor experienced a mixed set of results across three different categories.

With Nash Morris running in the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Series and Scott Taylor entered in both the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series and Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series, the duo were involved in plenty of memorable moments throughout the event.

In the ever-competitive Carrera Cup, Morris showed promise early on in the event after producing top 10 lap times in Friday’s practice session before qualifying in P11 on Saturday morning.

Unfortunately it was a forgettable opening race of the round after the Queenslander was forced to the pits after just a few laps, eventually leading to a retirement.

In Sunday morning’s Jim Richards Endurance Race, Morris enjoyed a far better run as he avoided chaos and reached the chequered flag. The rising star then finished off the weekend with P12 in the round finale.

For Taylor, he was involved in plenty of drama throughout both categories, as both Aussie Racing Cars and V8 SuperUtes had four races across the weekend.

Qualifying towards the back of the grid in Aussie Racing Cars, Taylor managed to gain six positions in the category’s opener on Friday afternoon.

Taylor avoided plenty of drama to finish in P30 and sixth in the Gold Cup in Saturday morning’s outing before disaster struck in the afternoon, as the #222 Mustang ended up catching on fire and Taylor was one of nine entries to retire.

The Scott Taylor Motorsport Team worked hard overnight to get the car prepared for Sunday morning’s race, where Taylor lined up for what became another chaotic event that saw 13 retirements and two extended safety car periods.

While Taylor was able to avoid the turmoil in the opening stint having made up a handful of positions in the process, he was unable to do so in the second – being caught in another pile-up.

In SuperUtes, Taylor had a solid start to the quartet of races having finished two places higher than where he started in P16, before dropping back down to P18 in race two.

Taylor then made up a place in Saturday afternoon’s third race before receiving a penalty in the final race, finishing in P17.

While Aussie Racing Cars has now wrapped up for the year, SuperUtes and the Carrera Cup will conclude their 2024 seasons at the VAILO Adelaide 500 next month.

“We had an OK weekend which was a bit up and down, but we showed good pace in practice,” said Morris.

“Unfortunately I got a kerb hop in qualifying, which many people did, so we battled through, but then we got taken out in race one.

“A big thanks and shoutout to Scotty; he was probably more tired than me after this weekend, doing double duties in the Aussie Racing Cars and the V8 SuperUtes, but he’s a fit bloke, so that’s pretty cool.

“Also thanks to Scotty and Ash Seward for everything they do for me.”
