Scott Taylor Motorsport’s Nash Morris has remained in the top 10 in the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship standings after a solid weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park.

With the young Queenslander looking to bounce back following a tough weekend in the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia at Townsville earlier this month, Morris responded strongly in Carrera Cup, scoring his second-highest points haul for the season.

Taking on the best Porsche drivers in the country, Morris hovered around the top 10 for both of Friday’s practice runs, before qualifying for the opening race in 12th after an extremely tight session.

Although racing under the spectacular Sydney Motorsport Park lights didn’t end the way Morris would have hoped, finishing the 11-lap affair in 13th, he responded strongly in the round’s endurance race – defending well to finish the outing in ninth place after gaining a late position on the last lap.

Morris then finished the weekend just outside the top 10 in the final race, guiding the Ashley Seward Motorsport prepared 911 GT3 Cup Car to 11th place.

With the Championship now reaching the halfway point of the 2024 season, Morris currently sits in ninth place and just 16 points off the seventh-placed Ryder Quinn.

The Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship continues with its fifth round of the season in September as part of the Penrite Oil Sandown 500.

“We had an up and down weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park,” Morris said.

“We showed some pace in practice but couldn’t really carry that form into qualifying and racing.

“Still had a lot of fun. We learned a lot. Kept tuning the car with my driving and kept getting faster and faster.

“It was good fun and we are looking forward to Sandown.”
