Queensland Raceway was a mixed event for Scott Taylor Motorsport as podiums came the way of its Dunlop Super2 Series driver Nash Morris and team owner Scott Taylor returned to the highly competitive Paynter Dixon Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship.

Morris continued to cement his title credentials in the second-tier Dunlop Super2 Series forming a near-dominant Tickford Autosport attack on the crown.

Although qualifying ninth for Race 1, Morris was able to climb a couple of positions to seventh in what was a heavily interrupted opening encounter due to an opening lap incident.

Sunday led to an improvement for Morris by just missing pole to the tune of 0.132s to set a time under the previous Super2 qualifying lap record.

Morris challenged for the lead on many occasions during the 40-minute encounter, however was unable to add another win to his tally at Queensland Raceway.

The Repco Bathurst 1000 marks the next round for Morris in the Dunlop Super2 Series as he aims to close the gap in the race for the title, which sits at 117-points.

As for Taylor, he competed in his first round of Paynter Dixon Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship for more than two years.

Taylor decided to re-join the category after successful test days at Queensland Raceway endured a tough re-initiation.

After qualifying sixth in class for the opener, Taylor failed to finish the opening race following contact, which led to steering damage.

He recovered well to finish fifth in Race 2 and sixth to end the weekend.

Scott Taylor Motorsport will take a little break before returning to action at the Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 9-12 where Taylor is expected to do double duty in Paynter Dixon Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship and the Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes Series, with Morris resuming his Dunlop Super2 Series duties while making his Great Race debut.

“I ended up in second in the final race of the weekend,” said Morris.

“I started off the front row and had a decent crack at the start. The racing was hard, but fair and had some good pace to maintain second.

“This was alongside finishing seventh in Race 1, which is where we will focus our energies on improving in the coming rounds. It’s been a bit of our problem, we come good in the second race.

“I just want to say a big thank you to Scott Taylor and all my sponsors.”

“This weekend was a test for myself to see if I was capable of getting back in a Porsche and I think I ticked the box on that,” said Taylor.

“We did have one incident, which was unfortunate, but I got faster as the weekend wore on. I’m pretty happy and when I’m happy, I continue to do things, so for my Porsche campaign I will race at two or three of the remaining rounds.

“I think we’ll be back in Porsche because it’s a great category, all the people are great to hang around with, Ashley Seward Motorsport runs the car and does a good job of it, plus Paul Morris on the radio, so I think we had a pretty good weekend.

“Young Nash Morris got second in Super2, so all-in-all a big tick for Scott Taylor Motorsport and all the people who support me.
