Nash Morris keen for home Gold Coast Porsche event
23rd October, 2024The front door of Nash Morris’s home is less than 10 minutes from Surfers Paradise street track, so other than living opposite Porsche Carrera Cup’s temporary pit tent on the Esplanade, this is his his ‘home race.’
And with less travel to do each night and the luxury of sleeping in his own bed, Morris is keen to take advantage of the homely setting.
“It’s going to be pretty cool to race at my home round,” said Nash, who will drive the #222 Scott Taylor Motorsport Porsche in the three races of the penultimate round of the Carrera Cup series.
“I only live 10 minutes from the track, so you might see me getting to the track on a skateboard or a bike, something funny like that, but it will be cool to race in my home yard.”
This event marks the second time that Nash has competed at the Surfers Paradise circuit.
Last year, the young gun secured a late one-off start in the Sports Sedans class.
This time, he’ll drive the same car that he has used all year.
With track miles under his belt and now almost at the end of his first full-time year in Carrera Cup, Morris is keen to put all of his knowledge top best practice.
“To know where the track goes is a nice advantage for me,” he said.
“I know some of the other rookies won’t have the track time that I’ve had.
“Having said that, in Sports Sedans last year, we didn’t get many racing laps. I certainly didn’t get as much lap times as I would have liked, but even what I’ve got will put me in a better spot for Carrera Cup this year.
“Once the helmet goes on this weekend, it really all means little. I just want to go there and get the best result I can for Scott Taylor Motorsport and Ashley Seward Motorsport.”
Also saddling up in STM colours will be Scott Taylor himself. The veteran racer will compete in two classes of racing on his home soil, driving in the V8 SuperUte class and the pint-sized Aussie Racing Cars.
Stay tuned to STM’s Facebook and Instagram pages to keep up to date with Morris and Taylor’s performances over the Gold Coast street race weekend.
