Character-building weekend on the mountain for Scott Taylor Motorsport
13th October, 2024Scott Taylor Motorsport has experienced a character-building weekend at the iconic Mount Panorama this weekend with Scott Taylor and Nash Morris in action at the Repco Bathurst 1000.
With Morris once again contesting the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup, this weekend proved a special affair for Scott Taylor, who was making his Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series debut at Bathurst.
A late entry into the series, the round proved a learning experience for Taylor who enjoyed plenty of track time in the Ford Ranger across its four races.
Qualifying in P22, Taylor made a spot in the opening race before showing positive progress on a busy Saturday with a pair of P19s in race two and three. Taylor then wrapped up his weekend with another P21 to cap off a solid debut in the series.
Taylor signed off his weekend by getting the opportunity to drive his popular big rig around Mount Panorama to the delight of the fans.
Across the paddock, Morris had a far more productive weekend behind the wheel of the STM #222 Porsche Carrera Cup car, picking up a pair of top 10 finishes.
Qualifying in the fourth row, Morris fell to 10th in the opening outing before working his way back into seventh for the weekend’s second race of the round.
Unfortunately Morris failed to finish in the finale after completing just one lap due to being involved in a racing incident – putting a sour end to what had been a solid weekend up the point.
Morris won’t have to wait too much longer to get back on track though, with the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup next in action on October 25-27 for the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.
Taylor will also be at the Gold Coast street race, making a return to the Aussie Racing Cars Series.

“Had a pretty good start to the weekend in practice and then showed some good speed in quali,” said Morris.
“Unfortunately I had a few bad starts which put us back a fair bit, but I had a good race yesterday and I finished seventh.
“In the last race, we had a DNF due to a race incident on Sunday mornings, which put us out the first lap. But we had good speed and some fun, and we’re looking forward to our home round on the Gold Coast.”
